Sunshine on a Cloudy Day

Just writing those words, “Sunshine on a cloudy day,” makes me think of the movie “My Girl” (1991), and I immediately start humming the old song by The Temptations. I remember how my dearest childhood friend and I would play with Barbies in her bedroom while blasting the “My Girl” soundtrack ten times in a row, inadvertently convincing ourselves we were growing up in the 1970s. Ah, the good old days of dolls, dress up, and, of course, unapologetically obsessive behavior. Thinking about that time puts a smile on my face, and I figured I’d share these words plus some images of sunny days in an attempt to put a smile on yours. Like I said earlier this week in the little rambling about doughnut aromas, I’ll take every single slice of sunshine I can get when it’s gray and chilly outside. So, here’s to hoping the sun comes out soon, blizzards ease up for all you lovely readers on the East Coast, and you’re able to feel the bass line move you as you read:

I’ve got sunshine
On a cloudy day.
When it’s cold outside,
I’ve got the month of May…

Psst: Have a beyond-spectacular weekend! If you get cold, just visualize a sunny beach, hum “dum-da-da, dum-da-da” and make a beeline for the nearest crackling fire or down-coat factory.

Thanks for these cheerful thoughts–they help amidst the gray days. Yes, even in California. Gray. Lots of it.

Oof, don’t you just hate how gray days pop up in the unlikeliest of places (like California and Texas)? I found these Parisian photos that make gray days look oh-so pretty, though: http://littlebrownpen.blogspot.com/2011/01/paris-gray.html
