Love, Sweet Nothings

Bright Beginnings

Pretty, pastel-laden paint brushes that hark back to our weekend of crafts

I was having a bad day for about five minutes this morning, but then I came downstairs to find a heart of toy cars on the dining table and was instantly transported back in time to re-wake up on the right side of the bed. These toy cars were part of a little craft project that my sweet and I did on his birthday, and they suddenly filled my morning with smiles as I imagined him leaving them in that lovely arrangement before boarding his early-bird flight to California. Not only were the cars’ drying paint jobs a reminder of our fun time yesterday, but they were a message of love and thanks – a message that eased any sleep-deprived headaches leftover from the weekend’s festivities. It’s funny how little things like this can reshape the course of our days, but it’s oh so true…

Although I firmly believe we’re all responsible for making our own luck/happiness and I’m confident I could have made my day turn around on my own, there’s something to be said for how sweet days are when they’re brightened by others. Instead of sitting around and waiting for hearts of toy cars or for-no-reason flowers/cakes/coffees to fall from the sky, how about creating a little bright-beginning karma by making someone else’s morning? Is there anyone you’ve been meaning to thank or cheer up lately? If so, I say hit them with happiness in the morning so they’ll have something to grin about all day long.

I think everyone should be given a palette of colors to choose and decorate each part when buying a real car, how much more fun it would be to drive around, or be stuck in traffic. Kudos to all those brightly painted Smart cars and Mini-Coopers and VWs!…Wouldn’t Bright Beginnings be a great name for a preschool?

You know, I think that’s why I love Mini-Coopers so much. Perhaps this infatuation with color can all be traced to the fact that I did indeed go to a preschool named Bright Beginnings. 😉
