From Holland With Love

Graffiti of a boy and girl about to surprise each other in Amsterdam

As I pack and prepare to depart on a 13-hour flight tomorrow morning, I just wanted to share a few heart-warming images with you from my travels. My absolute favorite snapshots from my entire trip would have to be this graffiti of a silhouetted boy and girl, which my fiancé and I stumbled upon on our way to dinner this evening. The images are so deceptively sweet and innocent at first glance, but the spike-covered club in the girl’s hand makes me think the artist was punched a lot by his school-aged crush on the playground. As menacing as the girl is, these kiddos still evoke a sense of whimsical love somehow, though. Don’t you think?

I hope this helps end your week on a lovely note and I wish you delicious meals shared with the sweetest of souls in the days ahead. Just remember to beware of spiked clubs after any and all innocent embraces.

Another rendition of our pals against a purple background – don’t you love how the girl’s club is concealed around the corner of the building?

Our mischievous pals from a distance – you can see they’re framed by a brick doorway

Ah, how very magical Amsterdam is indeed, Kristina. I hope to go back sometime soon to soak up more art and cafe culture. 🙂 Isn’t it awesome how this mural takes on a whole new meaning when you notice the girl is holding that nail-spiked club in her hands? I still can’t get over how sneaky this vignette is. 😉
