There was probably something in the air or in the phases of the moon, but last week was a rough one – that’s right, it was the kind of non-stop workweek of sleepless nights and bottomless to-do lists that requires an extra-long weekend to recover from. There are no random holidays this Monday, however, and my work schedule wouldn’t allow me to take time off even if some lesser-known president had decided to invade Tasmania on this day, so I’ve decided the trick for now is psyching myself up to make this week a banner one. Even though my to-do lists are still nagging at me and are longer than ever thanks to the craziness of last week, I’m determined to give my brain a fresh start today, and I decided there was no better way to do this than to sit down at my computer with a warm breakfast this morning. My homemade fruit and oatmeal paled in comparison to the yummy brunch my hubby and I ate at Dough Boys this weekend, but – since this lovely bakery and restaurant is the tastiest place I’ve yet to find in Los Angeles to start the day off right – I figured I’d share a couple snapshots with you in case you’re feeling a similar need for an extra day of relaxation and indulgence right now…

    cote!! thanks for your sweet comments as usual! i’ve heard about doughboys ~ only good stuff and these photos are making it difficult for me to force myself to not get into my car and drive down to L.A. right now! YUM!!! it’s funny that you should ask how i’m starting off fresh for the week ~ well, i will be trying to eat healthy ~ meaning no pastries for a little bit!! haha! 😉 😉 but who knows, i probably won’t make it through the whole week now after seeing these delectable eats!! happy tuesday my friend 😉 😉

    It really was such a delicious brunch, Gina. I hope you find a chance to mix up your regular breakfast routine as well this week. 🙂

    Erin: I’m so happy to hear you’re starting out the week by checking off things from your to-do list. It really does feel so good to take control and work on getting things done that you care about.

    Kristina: Fittingly, my husband and I just made a weight-loss/fitness bet with each other last night, so I’m swearing off pastries for the time being as well. Baked goods really are my weakness, so it’s going to take a lot of will power not to cave to all the yummy food photos I see everyday on my interweb travels. Here’s to wishing you lots of will power throughout the week, though. You can do it, girlfriend! 😉

    Nice to hear that you are starting a nice fresh week 🙂 I finally had a chance to as well! Simply relaxing and enjoying the nice Fall weather outside. The past 2 weeks has been hectic with non-stop work. But now, a time to relax for a bit. So when I have a chance I like going outside for fresh air and admire all the changing leaves <3
