Tuesday is my birthday, and there really is nothing like this kind of milestone to make a gal ponder time and the all-too-reliable way in which it flies. It’s crazy to think that at this time last year my husband was surprising me with a proposal in a Texan sculpture garden, and it’s even more absurd to fathom that in the year since we have moved halfway across the country, changed jobs, traveled to South America and Europe, made a short film, potty trained a puppy, and – oh yeah- gotten married. When I remind myself that I’ve recently also landed a gig as a writer’s assistant and garnered some serious traction on one of my screenplays, I realize what a banner year this has truly been both professionally and personally. I can’t help feeling darn lucky, amazed, humbled, and (I’ll just come out and admit it) more than a tad nervous about how the coming year can possibly follow on the heels of this tough act, but – no matter how daunting or astounding the events of the last year have been – the truth remains that it has happened and I now have all the triumphs and mistakes of the past 365 days to reminisce about and learn from.
I’m going to be taking the week off from this blog in order to celebrate and ponder everything the past year has meant and will mean to me as I look forward to a new annum of storytelling, world travel, problem solving, and impromptu adventures. Wishing you a wonderful week filled with at least a little time to reflect amidst the holiday hubbub! Leave a comment.
